The History of N-CORE
The history of N-CORE NG started in 1997 in Vienna, Austria. The idea was to develop a software system to perform codification work based on an international standard. Having been awarded a contract from Turkey for the development of a NATO Codification System, ESG started to create a system compliant to ACodP-1. Thus the name for the system was born: NATO Codification System Repository - N-CORE. The first go-live was in the Turkish NCB in March 1998.
During the next eight years the system was improved and extended with several functionalities and implemented by seven customers: the Danish NCB in May 2002, the Austrian and Greek NCBs in 2003, the Hungarian and Slovenian NCBs in 2004, the aircraft manufacturer EMBRAER in Brazil in 2005, the German NCB and the NCB of The Netherlands in 2006.
Because of new developments in software and hardware over these 10 years, from 2006 to 2007 ESG carried out a re-engineering of N-CORE. The new version, N-CORE NG (NG – Next Generation), is based on state-of-the-art technology. The first installation of N-CORE NG took place at the Romanian NCB in October 2007.
Many of the "old" N-CORE customers have already upgraded to N-CORE NG and since 2007 we have welcomed several new customers to the N-CORE User Community.
